Official English Exam - BEPC Session 2021

This official BEPC English exam for the 2021 session is a comprehensive national examination document, accompanied by a detailed answer key for all sections. It provides a balanced assessment of grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and written expression.

Exam Structure:

• Section A - Grammar (10 marks): Two exercises. The first is a dialogue between Njiya and his father about buying school supplies for the new academic year, testing prepositions (in), possessives (my), modals (may I), vocabulary (shopping), and conjunctions (but). The second is a paragraph to complete about the impact of modern technology on Cameroonian villages, testing plural formation (villages), gerunds (using), superlatives (most favourite), irregular plurals (children), and superlatives (happiest).
• Section B - Vocabulary (10 marks): Two parts. A free vocabulary exercise on the theme of healthy eating (market, germs/diseases, fruit juice, balanced diet, lunch). A multiple-choice exercise testing health and hygiene vocabulary (tablets, people, hygiene, hard, care), including the national flag and respect for patriotic symbols.
• Section C - Reading Comprehension (10 marks): A moral narrative entitled "The Story of Two Friends" comparing the fates of Mbi and Anye. Mbi drops out of school despite his friend's advice, squanders his father's wealth on alcohol and cigarettes, and ends up with cancer. Anye perseveres in his studies through to a doctorate. Questions assess comprehension, inference, multiple choice, and personal reflection.
• Section D - Composition (10 marks): Three topics to choose from: a speech about juvenile delinquency, an informal letter about the benefits of computer literacy, and a narrative about visiting a tourist site.

This exam is intended for Form 4 students. The themes (education, technology, nutrition, academic perseverance, juvenile delinquency) are at the heart of young Cameroonians' concerns. The complete answer key makes it a first-rate revision tool.
