Description

Official English Exam - BEPC Session 2020

This official BEPC English exam for the 2020 session is a comprehensive national examination assessing candidates' English language skills. The document does not include an integrated answer key, making it ideal as a practice test under real exam conditions.

Exam Structure:

  • Section A - Grammar (10 marks): Two exercises. The first is a dialogue between Swiri and Ngum about daily activities and plans to visit the zoo, where candidates must choose correct grammatical forms (verb tenses, interrogative pronouns, articles, demonstratives, possessive adjectives). The second exercise is a paragraph to complete about Mrs. Rebecca Chacko, an American Peace Corps volunteer teaching English in Cameroon, testing conjugation (teach, want), comparatives (good), and word formation (fright, community).
  • Section B - Vocabulary (10 marks): Two parts. A gap-filling exercise with words from a list (money, law, wives, health, stress) on the theme of alcohol consumption and its family consequences. A free-completion text about a mother preparing breakfast for her children with different tastes, testing food and family vocabulary.
  • Section C - Reading Comprehension (10 marks): An informative text entitled "The Best Age to Have a Baby" addressing teenage pregnancies, the physical and emotional maturity needed for parenthood, and age-related medical risks. Questions assess factual comprehension, consequence identification, and the candidate's personal opinion.
  • Section D - Composition (10 marks): Three topics to choose from: a formal letter to the principal about student behavior, a narrative about a market misadventure, and a description of a traditional village wedding.

This exam is intended for Form 4 students preparing for the BEPC. The themes (volunteering, reproductive health, daily life, traditions) address essential questions for Cameroonian youth.
