History, Geography and Civic and Moral Education Exam - BEPC Session 2019
This document presents the official History-Geography-Civic and Moral Education (ECM) examination from the BEPC (Brevet d'Etudes du Premier Cycle) 2019 session, along with its detailed answer key. The exam covers two major disciplines: Geography and Civic and Moral Education, each organized in two complementary parts.
In Geography, Part A focuses on knowledge verification (9 points). The knowledge section requires candidates to define essential concepts such as extensive agriculture and underdevelopment, then list strategies for combating underdevelopment in Cameroon and the advantages of global trade liberalization. The skills verification requires locating Cameroon's hydrographic basins on a map (Atlantic, Congo, Niger, and Chad basins), identifying types of population pyramids, and matching economic activities to their production cities.
Part B of Geography, focused on competency verification (9 points), presents a problem scenario in which an uncle clears 5 hectares of forest to create a cocoa plantation. Candidates must analyze documents about the degradation of Cameroon's forest environment, identify the causes and consequences of deforestation, and propose concrete environmental preservation strategies such as reforestation and the creation of protected areas.
In Civic and Moral Education, Part A covers definitions of ballot and tontine, the chambers of the Cameroonian parliament, manifestations of democracy in Cameroon, as well as practical exercises in calculating the electoral quotient and building a cooperative organizational chart. Part B presents a problem scenario about a bakery threatened with bankruptcy, asking candidates to identify signs of a failing business and propose recovery solutions.
This document is intended for Form 4 students preparing for the BEPC examination, history-geography-ECM teachers, and anyone wishing to practice with an official exam paper and its answer key.
