Description
Official English Exam - BEPC Session 2018
This official BEPC English exam for the 2018 session is a national examination document designed to assess candidates' English language skills. The document includes a complete answer key with expected answers for each section.
Exam Structure:
- Section A - Grammar (10 marks): Two grammar exercises. The first is a dialogue between Miriam and Enjema about a job interview, where candidates must choose appropriate expressions (never, most grandiose, although, who, would have been). The second exercise requires sentence transformation using modal verbs, phrasal verbs, possessive pronouns, the present perfect, and the gerund. These exercises assess mastery of complex grammatical structures.
- Section B - Vocabulary (10 marks): Two exercises. A gap-filling text about an environmentally-conscious couple, testing vocabulary related to hobbies, recycling, endangered species, and socializing. A second contextual vocabulary exercise covering birthdays, children's rights and duties, the workplace, incurable diseases, and computer storage.
- Section C - Reading Comprehension (10 marks): An argumentative text entitled "We Need to Promote the African Culture" addressing the richness of African culture, national integration in Cameroon, and initiatives to promote cultural heritage. Questions assess the ability to identify main ideas, rephrase, and give a personal opinion.
- Section D - Composition (10 marks): Three topics to choose from: a descriptive essay promoting the culture of a region (Ejimbi), a formal letter requesting computer training, and a birthday party narrative.
This document is intended for Form 4 students and constitutes an essential revision tool for the BEPC. The themes (employment, African culture, national integration, environment) are representative of official Cameroonian exam subjects.
